Robert Lewandowski inspired Borussia Dortmund to a memorable 4-1 win over Real Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final on Tuesday. The Polish striker scored four goals, including a stunning hat-trick in the first half, as Dortmund took a commanding lead going into the second leg at the Bernabeu.

Lewandowski opened the scoring in the eighth minute after latching onto a through ball from Marco Reus. The striker then doubled Dortmund's lead in the 20th minute when poked a loose ball home from close range after a misunderstanding between Real goalkeeper Diego Lopez and defender Sergio Ramos.

The former Real Madrid attacker struck again three minutes later to secure his hat-trick, meeting a deep cross from Lukasz Piszczek with a powerful header. Karim Benzema pulled a goal back for the visitors just after the hour mark, but Lewandowski was not finished yet and netted his fourth goal in the 84th minute to cap a stunning individual performance.

Dortmund will take a 4-1 advantage into the second leg at the Bernabeu on April 30, while Lewandowski will be hoping to continue his impressive goalscoring form and help the German side reach the final.

The Polish striker has now scored 10 goals in this season's Champions League and will be hoping to add to his tally when Dortmund travel to Madrid for the second leg.
