Oilers Edge Sharks Behind McDavid's Historic Night

Zetterlund's Scramble Goal Proves Decisive

McDavid Reaches Historic Milestone

EDMONTON, AB — Fabian Zetterlund's goal inside the Oilers crease in the second period proved to be the decisive tally as the Edmonton Oilers edged the San Jose Sharks by a score of 4-2 on Saturday night.

The Oilers had a strong start to the game, taking a 7-1 shot advantage in the early going. However, after Quinn Hughes came close to scoring for the Sharks, it was the Oilers' turn to capitalize.

Zetterlund's goal came at the 8:22 mark of the second period, and it gave the Oilers a 2-1 lead. Ethan Bear and Kailer Yamamoto assisted on the goal.

The Sharks tied the game just over four minutes later on a goal by Jonathan Dahlen, but the Oilers regained the lead for good on a goal by Tyson Barrie with assists from Evan Bouchard and Connor McDavid late in the second.

McDavid added an empty-net goal in the final seconds of the game to reach a historic milestone. The Oilers captain became the fourth player in NHL history to get at least 150 points in a season.

The Oilers outshot the Sharks by a 36-27 margin. Mike Smith made 25 saves for the Oilers, while James Reimer stopped 32 shots.

With the win, the Oilers improve to 48-25-6 on the season, while the Sharks fall to 21-47-11.
